Anyways!

Is that even a word?

I started hearing this word about 15-20 years ago from people younger than me. Now it has become a part of our everyday lexicon. But I do not use it, and when someone else does, it irritates me. I am not sure why.

Perhaps it irritates me because it is not "proper" or good English. Perhaps I heard someone use it who I did not like very much, and the dislike for the word has stuck. Perhaps I am just a stubborn stickler for rules!

But I realize that this word is not going away. So I have made my peace with it.
